Microsoft AI Chief Rejects ’Sex Robots’ Amid Industry Growth
Microsoft has firmly distanced itself from the burgeoning AI-driven intimacy market, with AI chief Mustafa Suleyman stating the company will never develop erotic or romantic AI products. This stance contrasts sharply with rivals like xAI and OpenAI, which are exploring emotionally interactive or adult-oriented AI.
The global sex-tech sector, valued at $42.6 billion in 2024, is projected to surpass $107 billion by 2030, according to Grand View Research. Humanoid robots—a segment encompassing some of these products—could exceed $30 billion by 2035, per IDTechEx. Microsoft’s refusal underscores its focus on AI that "serves humanity" rather than simulating desire.
