This stance contrasts sharply with rivals like xAI and OpenAI, which are exploring emotionally interactive or adult-oriented AI.

The global sex-tech sector, valued at $42.6 billion in 2024, is projected to surpass $107 billion by 2030, according to Grand View Research. Humanoid robots—a segment encompassing some of these products—could exceed $30 billion by 2035, per IDTechEx. Microsoft’s refusal underscores its focus on AI that "serves humanity" rather than simulating desire.
